Looking for meaningful ways to bring literacy into your CS, STEM, or technology classroom? Join this interactive session to explore how picture books can spark creativity, strengthen problem-solving skills, and make STEM concepts more engaging and accessible for all learners. Attendees will walk away with ready-to-use, grab-and-go resources, lesson ideas, and book connections that can be immediately implemented in general education, special education, and technology classrooms. Whether you teach coding, engineering, science, or support diverse learners, this session will provide practical strategies to increase student engagement, collaboration, and cross-curricular learning through the power of picture books.

“Let’s Talk Books! – in the CS and STEM Classroom” is an interactive session designed to help educators integrate picture books into STEM, computer science, and technology instruction in meaningful and engaging ways. Participants will explore how picture books can introduce coding concepts, engineering design, computational thinking, problem-solving, and innovation while making STEM learning more accessible and engaging for students. This session is ideal for general education teachers, special education teachers, librarians, STEM educators, and technology teachers looking to bring literacy-rich experiences into their classrooms.


Throughout the session, attendees will examine practical classroom examples and participate in discussions centered around cross-curricular learning, inclusive instructional strategies, and student engagement. Special attention will be given to supporting diverse learners through differentiated activities, visual supports, collaborative tasks, and hands-on learning opportunities that connect literacy with STEM and CS concepts. Participants will also explore how picture books can help foster creativity, communication, perseverance, and critical thinking skills.


Educators will leave the session with a variety of ready-to-use, grab-and-go resources including curated book recommendations, lesson ideas, activity templates, and STEM challenges that can be immediately implemented in elementary and middle grade classrooms.
