About me
Lora Santucci teaches math and computer science at Morris Hills High School in Rockaway, NJ where she resides with her husband and children. She studied mathematics, computer science, and music at Rutgers University and began teaching in 1998. Over the years she has presented at NCTM, AMTNJ, DIMACS, NJEA, the Morris Area Math Alliance, the Rutgers Computer Science Summit, CSTA, and AP conferences as well as many in-district professional development workshops. She has been an AP reader, a content developer for CSAwesome, and an AP Mentor for Computer Science A. Lora received Governor's Teacher of the year and the Radioshack National Teacher Awards in 2003, and authored the article "Archimedes Revenge" in NCTM's The Mathematics Teacher in 2010, which described ways to use technology in mathematics education to expose students to classical mathematics problems. She believes that strong computational and algoritmic thinking combined with carefully thought out use of technology needs to be developed in students at all grade levels, now more than ever. Prior to teaching, Lora was an instructor at Johns Hopkins Center for Academic Achievement, an analyst at Goldman Sachs, and attended graduate school where she studied Operations Research and Mathematics Education. In her spare time she enjoys playing the piano, performing choral music, and participating in outdoor activities.
